The Thai world No.6 overcame the fifth-ranked South Korean 21-19, 21-16 in 47 minutes at the Hamdan Sports Complex. Top-ranked Tai Tzu-ying of Taiwan was due to face No.8 Chen Yufei of China in the other Group B match of the season-ending tournament. In Group A, No.2 Akane Yamaguchi also got off to a winning start, defeating fellow Japanese Sayaka Sato 21-12, 21-19. In Group B, China's Shi Yuqi defeated Taiwan's Chou Tien-chen 21-19, 21-17.
